Random name and number picker

How to use the picker

1. Type or paste the names, one per line. The list takes up to 300 items.
2. Adjust the options: ignore repeats, remove the winner from the list and the spin duration.
3. Click "Spin". The wheel stops on a name and the winner appears below, with the history.
4. To draw numbers, switch to "Pick numbers", set the range, the quantity and whether repeats are allowed.

How the draw works

The winner is chosen before the spin, with the browser’s random number generator, in a way that favors no item. The animation only shows the wheel stopping on the chosen name.

Every item has the same chance. If you want a name to have more chances, repeat it in the list; if you do not want repeats, tick "Ignore repeated names".

What to use it for

• Choosing who presents, who does the next task or who buys the coffee.
• Picking one participant from a list of event, class or group sign-ups.
• Deciding as a group: what to eat, which film to watch, who starts the game.
• Drawing numbers in a range, such as a number for an internal raffle or a queue.

Social media giveaways and promotions

This tool picks from whatever you paste in the list; it does not access Instagram or other networks, so you need to copy the names. If the draw is a commercial promotion with a prize, there may be platform rules and legal requirements in your country: check them before you announce it.

What the picker does not do

• It does not pick comments or followers from social networks: you paste the names.
• It is not a prize wheel for your website: to collect contacts and give a coupon, see Popconvert’s discount wheel.
• It does not store the list: it stays on the page and, if you ask, in the link you copy.
• It has no weighted draw: each line is one chance (repeat a name to give it more).

How do I pick a random name online?

To pick a random name online, paste the list with one name per line and click "Spin". The wheel chooses a name at random and shows the winner, with the history of who has already been picked.

Is the draw fair?

Yes. The winner is chosen with the browser’s random number generator, without favoring any position in the list. Every item has the same chance.

Can I remove people who were already picked?

Yes. Tick "Remove the winner from the list" and each name leaves the list after it is picked. That way nobody wins twice.

How do I pick several names?

Spin the wheel more than once with the option to remove the winner turned on: each spin picks a new name and the history keeps the order.

Can I draw numbers?

Yes. In the "Pick numbers" tab you set the first and last number, the quantity and whether numbers may repeat.

Can I share the list?

Yes. The "Copy a link with this list" button puts the list in the page address. Whoever opens the link sees the same list; it does not go through any server of ours.

Can I pick Instagram comments?

No. The tool does not access social networks. If you have the list of names, just paste it.

Is my list sent to a server?

No. The draw happens in your browser and the list is not sent or stored by the tool.
